Lion of Zarall by Eddy Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ LOVED this story, couldn’t put it down.
When I read the blurb it sounded like a good read but it was, for me, an excellent read.
This story about the Lion and Olira was captivating.
I am so impressed at how the author has created the characters and the world that does roughly resemble and ancient Rome/Greece in many ways but has so much more depth.
The world of the slaves, how they are trained, treated and more is so richly detailed.
I often find that authors either do not give me enough information or don’t give me the right information to help me understand the complex world and people I’m reading about.
Somehow Eddy gives this story so much depth and feeling. I grimaced, I felt sad, I felt angry and every other emotion I can think about when I was reading about the Lion and his life.
I felt conflicting emotions even getting to know the characters like Olira, she manages to be SO against Slavery but at the same time can be quite cruel in many ways when finding herself unexpectedly the owner of a slave.
Eddy has also managed to master the back and forth between memory and the present so well.
I never felt confused as to where I was, who’s view I was reading about and how this pertains to the present story-line.
I cannot wait to read book 2.
